Mesh allows power users to add an allocation rule (i.e., splitting) at the card or trip levels. If an allocation rule is configured, Mesh will automatically split transactions and expenses based on the allocation rule configuration.
Follow the steps below to split a transaction at the card level:Â
1. Log in to the Mesh platform with an Admin, Pro, or Auditor profile.
2. Navigate to the Virtual Cards page.
3. Select the card you want to split and click the three dots next to it.
4. Click the 'Manage allocation rule' button. Â
5. Click the '+ Add dimensions' button to select the custom fields you want to split the card's transactions by.
6. On each line item, select a relevant value, assign the percentage, and click the 'Save Rule' button when you are done. The default is an Even Split, but if you want to split the transaction differently, edit the percentages or click the '+ Add split' link and adjust the values/amounts.Â
The example below depicts an even split between Account GL 1410 Furniture and Fixture ($107.97) and Account GL Office Expenses ($107.98).
7. If you need to change your previous selections, navigate to the card page, click the three dots at the top right corner of the screen, and click the 'Manage allocation rule'. You can add dimensions, edit existing dimensions, or delete the allocation rule.
Follow the steps below to split a transaction at the trip level:Â
1. Log into the Mesh platform with an Admin or Pro profile, or as an Employee with Travel Manager permission.
2. Navigate to the Trips page.
3. Select the trip you want to split and click the three dots next to it.
4. Click the 'Manage allocation rule' button. Â
5. Click the '+ Add dimensions' button to select the custom fields you want to split by.
6. On each line item, select a relevant value, assign the percentage, and click the 'Save Rule' button when you are done. The default is an Even Split, but if you want to split the transaction differently, click the '+ Add split' link and adjust the values/amounts.Â
The example below depicts an even split between Locations, 70% under the New York location ($626.49) and 30% under the California location ($268.49).
7. If you need to change your previous selections, navigate to the trip, click the three dots at the top right corner of the screen, and click the 'Manage allocation rule'. You can add dimensions, edit existing dimensions, or delete the allocation rule.
Notes:Â
- Employees cannot manage allocation rules at the card or the trip level. However, if enabled through the Company Settings, they can split a transaction among various Custom Fields.
- Allocation rules will apply to transactions made after the allocation (split) was configured. Transactions made before the allocation was configured can be split at the transaction level. Similarly, editing the allocation rules will not affect transactions made before the edit.Â
